Summary[]
While returning from a mission, Eliot, Sophie, and Parker are ensnared in a local speed trap orchestrated by Sheriff Pinkus in the small town of Gillon, Louisiana. Eliot gets hauled off to the town jail by the sheriff in the police cruiser. From their headquarters, Brenna discovers that the town leaders exploit minor infractions to levy exorbitant fines, generating over $2.5 million annually from unsuspecting travelers.
Parker and Sophie get a ride into town, where Sophie sparks a connection with the tow truck driver: Jack. He drops them outside Ethel’s Diner to wait for Eliot. Inside, the town mayor, Armin Brewster, makes his power in the town clear. In the courthouse, Eliot finds out the judge is also Mayor Brewster.
Sophie insists they can quickly and easily “Field of Dreams” Brewster, separating him from his campaign war money, and setting the town up for a fair election. The plan is to make Brewster believe they are there to set up a racetrack for Apex 300. But Brewster doesn’t buy their bait, and Eliot comments that something’s not right.
The biker gang corner Eliot, but he beats them and finds a kilo of cut cocaine in their wake. Eliot learns that the bikers push drugs at the local truck stop, and Brewster turns a blind eye in exchange for their muscle. Brewster wasn’t interested in the racetrack because it’d draw attention to Gillon, and the bikers’ gig would be over. Eliot later plants the idea into the bikers that Armin is running a cartel deal under their noses.
Eliot distracts the bank manager, Brewster’s brother, and voting contributor, Clyde. Parker breaks into the safety deposit boxes, taking all the bikers’ money. Clyde, realizing his brother will be pissed off once he realizes lost the bikers money, is convinced by Sophie to sway the town vote. In the courthouse, Eliot wins the vote. Armin is run out of town by the bikers.
The bikers head to Ethel’s and pour gasoline all over the diner, threatening to burn the whole town down unless they get rid of the new mayor. Just as Sophie hoped, the people of Gillon rise and take their town back. Jack arrives as the town firefighter, and the rest of the town arrives on bicycles. The townspeople face off with the bikers who drop the torch and leave.
Outside Gillon, Parker pulls Armin and Pinkus over for speeding in the construction zone. She finds the stolen bank money in the trunk and arrests them. In Gillon, Ethel launches her campaign for mayor. Sophie decides to stay in Gillon with Jack for a few days.
