Safe Haven free port

Summary[]

Parker rappels to a dinner date Hardison set up for them on a rooftop. During their dinner date, Parker worries about Hardison going to space. After their date, they drive around before arriving at Safe Haven free port. The free port allows wealthy clients to store goods without worrying about paying taxes. The security is unbreakable and uncrackable to ensure their clients’ pieces are safe. Parker and Hardison discuss how each vault has pressure sensors and biometric scanners. The Safe Haven free port houses Lillian Baxter Cartland Jones’ collection. She recently died, so her collection will be on display. Hardison and Parker muse that this will make a perfect opportunity to break into the vault, as everyone will be distracted by the showing. Hardison already has readied them fake invites.

Hardison and Parker wait for a distraction at the showing before going upstairs to the vaults. They find a duffle bag of supplies in the hallway and an elevator access key. Together they climb the elevator cable up before dancing through the halls to the vault. Parker uses suction cups to avoid the pressure sensors, and Hardison uses a recording she sent him of the key tones to determine the combination. Together they break open the vault. Inside, Parker rushes to a T-rex skull which she licks, while Hardison is after the countess Lucia watch. The two ask how long the other has been planning this before the vault door closes on them, and they are trapped inside. Downstairs, robbers have taken over the building.

The episode then flashes forward. Parker recruits Harry and Breanna to help her break into the vault to get Hardison the watch. Hardison, meanwhile, recruits Eliot and Sophie as licking the t-rex skull is on Parker’s list. Both Parker and Hardison want one big adventure to last the entire time they are apart. They both ask that the members not tell anyone else, but the team later gets together to discuss the plan. Eliot says he has tickets to a basketball game that night, while Breanna has a date.

The team uncovers that the showing is in memory of Lillian. Lillian’s only two remaining relatives are her latest husband, Justin, and her grandson, Mason, who was under her care. Mason is the only one with access to the vault, as the vast of Lillian’s estate was left to him. Mason is a big fan of the Spirit’s Ruse Mobile game, and Breanna comes up with an idea to use the game to hack into Mason’s phone. Breanna then uses Mason’s phone to get a recording of the key tones to the combination of the safe.

Sophie poses as an art curator to ensure the T-rex skull is not on display, replacing it with a painting. The team uses Eliot’s basketball tickets to ensure the security guard won’t be there that night, replacing him for Eliot. Eliot and Sophie then stash the equipment that Hardison and Parker will use later. Harry knocks over an ice bucket at the showing, creating a distraction for Hardison and Parker.

When Eliot goes to his shift as the security guard, the guy before him won’t leave for the night, making him suspicious. The security cameras turn off when the other security guard leaves, and the building goes into lockdown. This triggers the robbers to take everyone downstairs hostage and locks Hardison and Parker in the safe.

Back in the vault, Hardison finds an escape through a vent, but Parker refuses to go through, confusing him, as Parker loves vents. Hardison quickly realizes she is still sad and worried about him leaving for space.

Back downstairs, Sophie realizes they’ll need Breanna’s help, despite her being on a date.

The fake security guard comes back, as he’s with the robbers and was the one to put the building into lockdown, turning off the security camera feeds. Eliot goes toe to toe with him, but he proves hard to beat as he won’t stay down.

Hardison and Parker crawl through the vent and are led to the air control room, but it’s locked. They hear Mason’s voice back in the vault, seemingly thrown in by the robbers. Parker crawls back, telling Hardison to pick the lock of the air control room, giving them a way out. In the vault, Mason breaks down in Parker’s arms, and she relates to him, earning his trust.

Downstairs, Sophie and Harry work the crowd to determine what’s happening. The owner of the free port pulls the fire alarm, causing Parker and Mason to be trapped in the vault while the air is sucked out. Parker constructs an explosion to blow open the vault door, freeing them.

Justin runs to the vault to check on Mason, and the team realizes he is behind everything. He had the owner of the free port pull the fire alarm in an attempt to kill Mason, as then Lillian’s will would turn over to him. He hired the robbers to steal the painting from the vault, but as Sophie switched the showing, they went after the T-rex skull instead. The robbers stored it in a separate vault with the money they stole. The team then locks Justin in the vault, with Mason leaving a note to the police.

When Parker asks Hardison what will happen to Mason, Hardison tells her he put in a word with CPS asking for him to be placed with Nana. He then assures Parker that they’ll be fine because they are Parker and Hardison.

  • Pretzels are mentioned during Parker and Hardison’s dinner date. The snack is often referenced in terms of their relationship throughout the show
  • Spirit’s Ruse was the card game central to The Card Game Job

Trivia[]

  • The keypad code in the vault, 86753091, is a reference to Tommy Tutone's 1981 song "867-5309/Jenny" and also a reference to the keypad code Hardison is decoding in Season 1, Episode 1 of Leverage
